PolandSolaris Bus & Coach of Bolechowo claims that by the end of 2018 its electric buses had exceeded 10 million kilometres of in-service operation. Almost a decade after the first Urbino Electric was created the model is now in serial production – delivering similar performance to diesel alternatives without producing any tailpipe emissions, states Solaris.

The battery Urbino was developed in 2011and benefited from the manufacturer’s electro-mobility experience generated from the Solaris Trollino trolleybus. The evolution of electric drivelines from trolleybus through hybrids to solely battery-powered drives, earned the vehicle the Bus of the Year 2017 award. Solaris has since delivered or received commissions for nearly 400 electric vehicles and in 2017, it ranked first in Europe in this respect, claiming a market share of 18%.
