Voith acquires majority stake in on-board IT specialist - Pilotfish

Germany / SwedenVoith Group of Heidenheim, Germany has acquired a 56% majority stake in Swedish IT company, Pilotfish – a major provider of on-board IT systems and applications. Pilotfish, based in Gothenburg, has installed systems in more than 10,000 buses, trains and trams, in multiple countries. It provides applications, hardware and consulting in a portfolio covering eco-driving, an open standard vehicle communication platform, tachograph download, automatic fault report, navigation and automatic vehicle data transfer directly into cloud-based analytics. Financial details of the transaction have not been disclosed.

Pilotfish generated approximately EUR6m revenue in 2018. The company has 30 employees and serves customers in Sweden, Norway, Germany and France. It supplies a range of customers from local businesses to some of the world’s leading bus manufacturers and largest fleet operators in Europe. Voith, a major player in the transport and mobility sector, sees the technology and domain knowledge within Pilotfish as complementary to its own activities in these sectors.
