VW and Ford to collaborate on production and development of LCVs

Germany / USA - Volkswagen AG (VW) of Wolfsburg, Germany and Ford Motor Company (Ford) of Dearborn, Michigan, USA have reached formal agreements relating to broad alliances designed to boost competitiveness and serve customers better.

Dr Herbert Diess, CEO of VW and Jim Hackett CEO of Ford confirmed the companies intend to develop commercial vans and medium-sized pickups for global markets beginning in 2022. The alliance would provide significant scale and efficiencies, enabling both companies to share investments in vehicle architectures delivering distinct capabilities and technologies. They estimate co-operation in commercial van and pickups would yield improvements in annual pre-tax operating results from 2023.
