USA - Cummins Inc of Columbus, Indiana, is to supply its X12* engine as an option in Daimler Trucks North America Inc-owned Western Star's 4700 model trucks and tractors. Weighing 2,050lbs, Cummins claims the X12 offers a significant opportunity to lower the vehicle weight whilst increasing fuel efficiency and offering greater payload capacity.

Brett Merritt, Vice President − Cummins On-Highway Engine Business commented: “Cummins is excited about the positive impact our X12 will have in weight-sensitive markets. We believe the lightweight Cummins X12 will be a great option in the updated Western Star 4700 truck, particularly for vocational customers.”
