Malaysia - The Malaysian commercial vehicle market over 2 tons gvw declined by 10.6% to 16,687 units in the fourth quarter of 2018 from 18,656 units a year earlier, according to www.AsiaMotorBusiness.com analysis of industry wholesale data.

The pull-back follows a sharp jump in sales in Q3, with the market lifted by the temporary withdrawal of the 10% sales tax between June and August. Economic growth in the country picked up some momentum in the fourth quarter, with GDP growth of 4.7% year-on-year compared with 4.4% in the third quarter, lifted mainly by a moderate improvement in exports. Full-year GDP growth was also 4.7% compared with 5.9% in 2017.
