US electric vehicle market will continue to grow despite new government, says State of Sustainable Fleets 2025 Market Brief

By Bradley Osborne – 7th May 2025

TRC, an environmental consulting and energy engineering firm has published its sixth market report on the state of sustainable fleets in the United States, providing updates on the development of zero- and low-emission sales in 2024 and on policy changes which will affect the market in 2025. This year’s report arrives in the first few months of a new administration which intends to upturn the consensus on electric vehicles. During the Biden administration, new federal programmes followed preexisting state incentives in supporting the expansion of battery and hydrogen vehicles and infrastructure. Now, the Trump administration seeks to rollback the federal support and target certain state programmes which require federal approval to function. However, the State of Sustainable Fleets 2025 Market Brief predicts that electric vehicle sales will continue to grow in the U.S., in spite of the new administration’s removal of support.
