USA - UD Trucks, based in Ageo in Japan’s Saitama prefecture, demonstrated Level 4 (L4) autonomous driving with its Quon heavy-duty truck in December at its UD Experience Centre in Japan.

L4 automation is the last step before fully-automated transportation, where the vehicle can assume full autonomy over every aspect of driving. With an audience including media reporters and business partners, the L4 trial sought to simulate heavy-duty truck real operating conditions in confined areas such as ports, factories, warehouses and construction sites, which are areas where the company thinks automation technology can contribute significantly to improving efficiency, safety and productivity.
