ChinaBYD Company Ltd at its headquarters in Shenzhen, China has announced its development of the K12A , a 27m fully-electric bi-articulated low floor city bus offering a passenger capacity of 250 people. The vehicle has a new and believed  to be unique drive system  that allows it to switch between two wheel drive (2WD) and four wheel drive (4WD) smoothly to meet the demands of different terrain, while also lowering the vehicle's overall energy consumption.

The BYD K12A has an all-aluminium alloy body and is equipped with BYD's own in-house drive technologies including batteries, electric motors and electronic controls. The K12A also accommodates BYD's battery heat management system, energy regenerative system, DC and AC charging ports that can be switched freely to meet customers' every need. One charge provides almost 300km range allowing a full day's operation.
