PEI announced that it has worked with Spanish bus manufacturer Castrosua to develop an articulated version of the ‘Nelec’ electric bus range which is mounted on a chassis supplied by China’s BYD.

BYD has delivered 100 e-buses to Uruguayan bus operator Cutcsa. The K9UD 12.2 metre low-floor electric bus has a maximum capacity of 90 passengers and is equipped with a 422 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery, providing a range of up to 450 kilometres on a single charge.

Chinese battery vehicle manufacturer, BYD unveiled the new ‘E-Vali’ battery-powered delivery van at the IAA Transportation 2024 in Hanover, Germany as the company stepped up its expansion into the European commercial vehicle market.

BYD will deliver 120 e-buses to South African bus operator Golden Arrow, marking the first electric bus fleet in the country. The first batch of electric buses will be delivered to Cape Town in Q4 2024, with full delivery by the end of 2025.

BYD trucks imported into Europe will be equipped with both Geotab’s hardware and software, that collects and transmits vehicle data which includes safety analytics, trip data, zone activity, electric vehicle statistics, exception events, GPS tracking, and more.

The factory is expected to come on stream in 2025 with an initial annual capacity of 500 electric buses. The Ministry of Transport of Azerbaijan has committed to purchasing 200 electric buses from BYD every year from 2025 to 2028.

Set to enter service in London later this year, the 90-passenger capacity BYD BD11 vehicle is powered by two 150kW electric motors, offering up to 600Nm torque. Debuting a new generation double-decker chassis, the bus has a 532-kWh blade battery pack, providing up to 350 km of range on a single charge.

The agreement provides for a series of initiatives, including the construction of electric charging hubs with the Shell Recharge solution in eight Brazilian state capital cities over the next three years starting this year (2024).

The tests are being carried out using BYD’s B70 bus by the company’s local distributor, Rever Automotive Thailand Company Ltd, picking up and dropping off passengers at shopping malls and tourist attractions across Bangkok.
