USA / Japan - Jacobs Vehicle Systems of Bloomfield, Connecticut, a manufacturer of diesel and natural gas engine retarding systems and valve actuation mechanisms, has launched a compression release engine brake for Hino Motor’s all-new 2020 Hino XL Series Truck, which is to go into series production later this year – see more details on this new model in a separate article of this issue.

Tokyo-based Hino Motors Ltd and Jacobs Vehicle Systems’ engineers have collaborated for more than 20 years to provide high performance engine brakes to the Japanese market. The relationship is now continuing with the introduction of Hino’s A09 engine to the US market. The two companies say they have worked closely together to design a high-performing compression release engine brake for Hino’s first Class 7/8 commercial vehicle - the new XL series specialty truck - in North America.
