Record unit sales for Scania but integration costs of New Generation truck taking time

SwedenScania AB of Sodertalje, Sweden ( a subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group) announced record truck sales in 2018 of 87,995 units (2017: 82,472) and that bus and coach (chassis and FBU) sales too increased to a record number of 8,482 units in 2018 (2017: 8,305). Engine unit sales totalled 12,809 units compared with 8,521 a year ago.

Scania said the total market for heavy trucks (16t gvw / gcw and above) in 27 of the European Union member countries (all EU countries except Malta) plus Norway, Switzerland, Iceland and Bosnia and Herzegovina, increased by around 4% to about 322,100 (309,100) units during 2018. Scania truck registrations amounted to some 52,700 (49,900) units, equivalent to a market share of about 16.4% (16.1%).
