Siemens collaborating with UK firms to drive innovation and produce quality finish in ‘3D’ printing

Germany / UK – Siemens AG of Munich, Germany has announced its collaboration with a number of UK high value manufacturing catapult companies to introduce its digital technologies for Additive Manufacturing (AM), otherwise known as 3D printing, to improve final quality and to enable commercial viability in the production process.

Additive Manufacturing (AM) is moving into series production, stated Siemens, and is set to open up unparalleled opportunities for suppliers, service providers and end-users. However, despite the many advantages of AM, poor surface finish is a major barrier to adoption, particularly in demanding end-use applications, such as the aerospace and the transportation industry.
