USA - Spartan Fleet Vehicles and Services (Spartan), part of Spartan Motors Inc, which markets products under the Utilimaster, Spartan Upfit Services, and Strobes-R-Us brands, used the Association for the Work Truck Industry (NTEA) Work Truck Show in Indianapolis to introduce three new vehicle platforms. The fleet vehicles included two fully electric vehicle (EV) platforms alongside a truck body specifically developed for last mile grocery delivery.

The two new Spartan electric vehicle chassis are collaborations with electric drive solution providers, Motiv Power Systems Inc of Foster City, California and Cummins Inc of Columbus, Indiana. The first Spartan vehicle was a new walk-in van in collaboration with Motiv Power Systems. The Motiv chassis is powered by lithium-ion batteries and includes technologies such as: collision mitigation system, 360-degree cameras displayed on a 9" HD in-dash monitor, and electric DOT sensors. The Utilimaster walk-in van with Motiv's EV chassis offers the same performance as a traditional IC-fuelled equivalent vehicle, but at 85% reduction of the operating cost and 66% reduction in maintenance cost, over the life of the vehicle.
