USA – Global supplier of medium- and heavy-duty automatic transmissions, Allison Transmission Holdings Inc of Indianapolis, Indiana, USA, has strategically extended its product offering into the fully electric driveline field with the purchase of two operations in the electrical drivetrain field; Vantage Power1 of London, and AxleTech’s Electric Vehicle (EV) Systems Division2, which is located at the headquarters of AxleTech in Troy, Michigan, USA.

With these acquisitions Allison says it is building an electrification strategy that leverages and extends its current electric hybrid technologies, develops new electrified propulsion solutions, and expands system and integration level capabilities in alternative propulsion. Its statement continued: ‘Both of these acquisitions align with Allison’s leading innovator position in propulsion technology, and will complement its existing capabilities to advance electrification adoption in commercial vehicles.’
