USA – This year's Advanced Clean Technology (ACT) Expo in California saw Allison Transmission Inc of Indianapolis, Indiana introduce the new ABE Series electric axle (e-axle), which, it claims, is the first e-axle advanced ultra-low floor electric bus powertrain system in the market. The ABE Series e-axles are said to be one of the world’s most powerful and compact fully integrated electric axle for the transit bus market. For medium and heavy duty truck applications, the company revealed its AXE Series electric axle, which incorporates a two-speed gearbox, oil coolers and pumps.

About the launch of these electric drive axles, David S Graziosi, President and CEO of Allison Transmission, said: “We have a long history with electric hybrid solutions and full electrification is the next evolution.”
