Gangway systems specialist for the bus and rail industries, Hübner GmbH & Co KG of Kassel, Germany is building a new factory for the manufacture of elastic polymer (elastomers) material products in Dunlap, Tennessee, south-eastern United States. While this initiative is premeditated after securing a major order to supply the New York City Subway with gangway systems in 2018, the company said the new factory would also produce products for the US transit bus market.

The facility in Dunlap is to produce all of the elastomer moulded parts, silicone seals as well as sensor-equipped rubber profiles for the rapidly expanding US bus and train industries from 2020 onwards. The Hübner Group has set itself the goal of becoming the worldwide market leader for door sealing and safety systems in the railway and bus segments – already having the largest market share for these segments throughout Europe.
