Italian trailer builder, Mantella launches lightweight tipper at Bauma

Italy / Sweden – Mantella Srl of Lamezia Terme, launched its new, lightweight steel tipper trailer at Bauma 2019.
The new Stratosphere trailer features a revolutionary design combined with use of advanced high strength steel (Hardox 500 Tuf for the body and and Strenx 960 for the chassis) developed and supplied by Nordic steel specialist, SSAB. The benefit is a weight reduction of some 510kg (a 365kg (803lbs) lighter body and a 145kg (320lbs) lighter chassis) resulting in a significant increase in payload, as well as fuel savings and reduced emissions. Independent tests indicate a Stratosphere trailer can save 12,000 litres (3,170 gallons) of fuel and 30 tons (60,000lb) of CO2 during 12 years of service. Mantella suggests the vehicle can earn EUR0.07 extra for every kilometre or EUR8,400 per year, and pay for itself in four to five years.
