Russia - LCV sales in Russia fall by 2.3% in first quarter 2019

Russia – In Q1 2019, Russia registered a total of 22,038 LCVs (GVW up to 5t), which is 2.3% fewer than in the same period of last year, LLC Avtostat Info states. Total sales of Russian models slipped by 0.2% to 15,214 units (15,244), while demand for foreign models, including those assembled in Russia, also shrunk, by 6.6% to 6,824 units (7,304).
Of the Russian manufacturers only UAZ recorded a fall in sales, declining by 4% to 3,702 units from 3,855 units. However, the market leader, GAZ, saw its sales rise by just a fraction of a percentage - by 11 units (0.1%) - to 10,310 units. Sales of one other Russian manufacturer, Volzhsky Auto Plant, which makes LCVs under the Lada Largus VU brand name, saw its sales rise by 10.5% to 1,200 units. Sales of the GAZelle NEXT - the most popular LCV in Russia - decreased by 2.7% to 5,398 units.
