Malaysia - Pick-up truck sales decline by 17.7% in Q1

Malaysia - Sales of pickup trucks declined by 17.7% to 7,698 units in the first quarter of 2019 from an unchanged 9,358 units in the same period a year earlier, reflecting a broad-based decline in economic growth.

Sales of the Toyota Hilux plunged by almost 29% to 2,670 units in the first three months of the year, while Ford made strong gains with sales of its Ranger model rising by 9.4% to 1,588 units. Sales of the Mitsubishi Triton rose by 3.6% to 1,517 units, while Nissan and Isuzu both reported sharp declines – of almost 31% to 968 units and 25% to 865 units respectively.
