Malaysian CV market finishes 15% lower in Q1

Malaysia - The Malaysian commercial vehicle market above 2 tons gvw declined by almost 15% to 12,431 units in the first quarter of 2019 from 14,549 units a year earlier, as the economic growth in the country continued to weaken.

First-quarter GDP growth slowed to 4.3% year-on-year from 4.7% in the fourth quarter of 2018 and an average of 4.75% in the whole of 2018. Most sectors of the economy experienced weaker growth, including private consumption which grew by 7.6% compared with 8.4% in the previous quarter.
