The Philippines - The Philippine market for pickup trucks continued to expand strongly in the first quarter, increasing by 26% year-on-year to 15,147 units after growth of over 16% to 12,026 units in the same period of last year. The segment continues to benefit from continued growth in household spending, driven by low interest rates.

Nissan became the segment leader with sales of its Navara model more than doubling to 4,656 units in the first quarter, with Toyota slipping into second position after its sales fell by 27% to 3,534 units. Ford recovered some lost ground with sales of its Ranger model rising by over 25% to 3,142 units, while Mitsubishi reported the strongest gains – with sales of its Triton model jumping by 164% to 1,757 units.
