Thailand - The Thai commercial vehicle market over 2 tons gvw expanded by 12% to 144,283 units in the first quarter of 2019 from 128,861 units in the same period of last year, according to data compiled by www.AsiaMotorBusiness.com from various industry sources.

The continued growth in vehicle demand came despite a sharp slowdown in GDP growth in the first quarter to 2.8% year-on-year from 3.6% in the fourth quarter of 2018. This was the weakest economic growth since the fourth quarter, albeit against a strong performance in the same period of last year when the economy expanded by 4.8%.
