Irizar wins tender for ie Tram system in Schaffhausen

Spain / SwitzerlandIrizar e-mobility of Aduna, Spain, a subsidiary of the Ormaiztegi-based Irizar Group, has been awarded a contract to supply 15 zero-emission ie Tram units and a charging network in Schaffhausen, Switzerland. After being awarded a contract for 10 units for Rheinbahn in Düsseldorf, Germany, the operator is now expanding into Switzerland. Irizar was once again successful in its tender.

The project is currently unique in Switzerland and Europe as the energy needed for the charging stations is to be generated by the river Rhine, as it passes through Schaffhausen.
