USA / Japan - Tokyo-based Isuzu Motors Ltd has announced progress with discussions for a partnership with US diesel engine manufacturer, Cummins Inc of Columbus, Indiana, that culminated in the two companies signing an agreement to form the Isuzu-Cummins Powertrain Partnership at the end of May.

Through this Powertrain Partnership, Isuzu and Cummins have committed to sharing their technical strengths to develop market-leading technologies for global customers. The two partners will form an “alliance board” and each will assign teams dedicated to work together to explore potential opportunities in product technology development, procurement and manufacturing. This agreement thereby formalizes a new business structure for the two companies to evaluate and carry out joint developments in new diesel and diesel-based powertrain technologies and to bring them to market global markets.
