Radom orders 10 electric Solaris buses

PolandSolaris Bus & Coach SA of Bolechowo-Osiedle, Poland (a subsidiary of the Spanish company, CAF Group) has signed a contract for the supply of electric buses to the Polish Municipal Road and Transport Authority in Radom. The operator has ordered ten Urbino 12 electric buses from Solaris together with the necessary infrastructure for charging them. The contract is worth PLN26m will be completed by mid-June 2020.

The Urbino 12s are to be equipped with 116kWh Solaris High Power batteries powering an electric axle with two 125kW motors. The energy is to be supplemented by a fast-charging pantograph system – with the connection placed on the roof - and via a plug-in connection at the depot. The specification includes efficient air-conditioning and USB chargers for charging mobile devices. Drivers are to have their own air conditioning. Additional heating for cold weather is supplemented by low-emission compressed natural gas (CNG) stored in a roof-mounted tank.
