Germany / The Netherlands - Stadtwerke Osnabrück is expanding its electric bus fleet with a further 49 VDL Bus & Coach Citea SLFA-181 articulated buses. Osnabrück currently operates 13 of these buses. Delivery of the new models will be completed in 2021.

The 49 electric VDL Citea articulated buses will operate around the clock and travel a total of 14,000 km per day! Maximum utilisation of the buses is enabled through their optimised rapid charging concept. The batteries have an energy capacity of 216kWh and can be charged at a rate of up to 320kW.  The new electric buses are identical to the thirteen buses currently operating in Osnabrück except for larger batteries and electric heating to replace the supplemental diesel fuelled heater on the current buses.
