USA – Blue Bird Corporation (Blue Bird) of Fort Valley, Georgia, USA has inaugurated a new 60,000 sq ft paint shop facility at its Fort Valley assembly plant. Blue Bird states the investment will provide best-in-class paint coverage, minimise waste and improve production efficiency in school bus manufacture.

Representing substantial, but undisclosed, investment, the automotive grade facility employs the latest in robotic technology and provides a 'clean room' environment. Bus bodies roll into the paint facility on a conveyor, meeting a series of pre-programmed robots which spray each bus to exact engineering specifications. Thereafter the bodies pass through ovens to set the paint and then proceed through multiple inspection bays before being mounted on a chassis.
