Chile – The Chilean Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications has confirmed an order for 183 BYD pure electric buses for operation in the capital of Santiago. They are scheduled for delivery this month (August). They join the 100 BYD electric buses introduced to Santiago in December 2018 and were supplied through BYD's local partner, Enel. They will be integrated into the existing Metbus fleet to operate the popular Avenida Grecia route, becoming the first route operated by only electric buses in Latin America. Metbus is also one of the largest pure electric bus fleet operators in the Americas.

On completion of delivery Santiago will have an electric bus fleet totalling 411 – the largest of its kind outside China.
