Dongfeng targets truck sales growth in Chile

Chile / China - Dongfeng Commercial Vehicle Co Ltd (DFCV) of Wuhan, Hubei Province, China (a 50:50 joint venture between the Dongfeng Motor Group (DFG) and Sweden’s Volvo Group) is to intensify sales and marketing activities of Dongfeng Trucks in Chile.

In early 2019, the company announced a major marketing strategy for the South American market with Chile being its focus market, as it is one of the most open South American countries for importing vehicles, the company states. Chile offers one of the most extensive range of cargo and passenger commercial vehicles as, in addition to those trucks exported from Brazil, Chile has also a strong choice of Chinese vehicles, including Dongfeng branded trucks. Through its official dealer representative, Maco Group of Santiago de Chile, Dongfeng is offering a complete range of light, medium and heavy-duty trucks ranging in weight from eight tons up to 45 tons gvw; models include DF814, DF914, DF1116, DF1352, DF2652, DF1722, DF1827, DF2038, DF2648 and DF 4038. The company’s sales have been relatively small with 94 units (0.6% market share) in 2018 and 29 units for January-May 2019.
