Russia's LCV market fall almost 10% in first half of year

Russia – In the first half of 2019, Russia registered 45,662 new light commercial vehicles (N1 category - gross vehicle weight of up to 3.5t) and including buses of M2 category (gross vehicle weight of up to 5t), which was 9.1% fewer than the 50,208 units registered in the same period of last year, according to statistics collated by Avtostat Info. Sales by domestic brands accounted for 31,236 units or 68.4% of the total market compared with 32,749 units or 65.2% market share in the same period of 2018. The number of foreign-made models fell by 16.4% to 14,426 units from 17,459 units.

Almost half of all the registered LCVs (47.3%) were manufactured at the Gorky Auto Plant (21,629 units, 5.4% down year-on-year). According to the Avtostat Info statistics, the GAZelle NEXT range was the most popular with total sales of 11,499 units but which was 10.5% down on the previous year. The Ford Transit was the best-selling foreign vehicle assembled in Russia with sales of 5,031 units, a rise of 9.2% on 4,739.
