Germany - Freudenberg Sealing Technologies of Weinheim, part of the Freudenberg Group, is collaborating with Munich-based pan-Europe bus and coach operator, FlixBus DACH GmbH* on a project to put fuel cell-powered coaches on the road. FlixBus and Freudenberg, which say they are holding talks to finalize project parameters, added that they were in the process of extending the partnership with participation from a bus and coach manufacturer.

Freudenberg Sealing Technologies says it has developed expertise in providing high quality components for fuel cells and battery systems, primarily through acquisition of appropriate companies. In early 2018, it acquired substantial holdings in fuel cell manufacturer, Elcore GmbH and its sister company, Elcomax in Munich. Elcore was founded eight years ago as a highly innovation-driven startup. Its patents and patent filings now total 200, and its developments include an extremely efficient fuel cell for stationary applications with an overall efficiency of 104%. These products are being developed further for mobile applications.
