Hino opens new truck plant in USA

Japan / USA - Hino Motors Ltd of Hino-shi, Japan held a grand opening ceremony for a new truck assembly plant in Mineral Wells , West Virginia, USA last month, which was attended by Yoshio Shimo, group CEO, Shigehiro Matsuoka, US Hino Sales president and Takashi Ono, US Hino Manufacturing president alongside other local dignitaries.

Hino stated its aims were to make the Americas its third global manufacturing and sales ‘pillar’ alongside Japan and South-east Asia, as part of its ‘Challenge 2025’ initiative. The company plans to localize more production in the country and consolidate existing production operations at the new West Virginia plant, in which it has invested USD100m for a production capacity of 24,000 trucks per year on two shifts.
