Finland – With revenues forecast to reach EUR11.6m in 2019, this will represent growth of some 7.4% over EUR10.8m registered in 2018 at bus and coach premium quality windscreen specialist, Finn Lamex Safety Glass Oy (FinnLamex) of Laitila, Finland. The company, which has recorded year-on-year revenue growth during the past five years, was started in 1999 by three former directors of Nord Lamex / Pilkington. The number of people employed has increased steadily too; last year it had 71 employees and this year it has 78 people directly employed.

With major OE customers typically being global bus builders, ADL and Wrightbus in the UK, and Van Hool in Belgium, the company has built a strong reputation for supplying high quality premium windscreens to the bus and coach industry. Tero Toivanen, managing director of FinnLamex explained to Truck & Bus Builder on a visit to the factory recently, the company had expanded its premises during its 20-year history on four separate occasions to meet this growing demand. Initially, it started with 3,000 square metres in 1999, but today the factory totals some 10,000 square metres and has a capacity to produce 37,000 laminated windscreens a year.
