UD Trucks in new ADAS research project

Japan - UD Trucks Corporation of Ageo, Saitama, Japan (a wholly owned subsidiary of the Volvo Group since 2007), has joined forces with Japanese logistics firm, Nippon Express, and Hokkaido-based agriculture cooperative, Hokuren, to bring autonomous driving technology to farm equipment.

The one-month trial programme aims to improve farming efficiency and help find to solutions to the nation’s growing labour shortage. The trials are to take place at the Hokuren Sugar Factory in Nakashari, Hokkaido, and will see UD Trucks’ Quon heavy-duty truck equipped with Level 4 automation technology demonstrating how produce can be moved through the factory complex autonomously.
