Germany - Public transport company, Hamburger Hochbahn AG, plans to commence field-testing Mercedes-Benz eCitaro G articulated buses featuring fuel cell range extenders from 2021. A corresponding letter of intent has been signed by Henrik Falk, Chair of the Board of Hamburger Hochbahn AG and Till Oberwörder, Head of Daimler Buses. Mercedes-Benz will deliver two correspondingly equipped buses during 2021.

Mercedes-Benz is introducing a new generation of batteries in 2020 which promise increased range for the eCitaro. Implementing fuel cell technology to extend the range further will improve operational flexibility.
