UK - Liverpool-based Ulemco, a developer of low carbon fuel applications, working in conjunction with Revolve Technologies, claims to have achieved record energy efficiency from use of 100% industrial grade hydrogen.

Exhibiting at this year's Cenex exhibition at Millbrook, the company is well known for its pioneering work in dual-fuel applications combining diesel and hydrogen to reduce emissions. Its latest results using 100% hydrogen fuel are said to have returned thermal efficiency of 45% due to new engine control strategies adopted aboard its Volvo FH series MLE (mega low emission) demonstration truck. Ulemco said the achievement shows it is possible to go well beyond previously reported energy efficiency results for hydrogen combustion, while at the same time achieving immeasurable NOx levels; adding this could open the way for zero emission trucks running on 100% hydrogen in the relatively short term!
