ULEMCo plans to put the money towards its existing R&D into new fuel cell electric and hydrogen combustion projects, as well as its proven dual fuel technology.

The UK government has announced an award of GBP7m for the development of a hydrogen fuel station for heavy goods vehicles in the Tees Valley combined authority, following an award last year of GBP8m for the deployment of fuel stations and hydrogen-powered vehicles in the area.

The Liverpool-based retrofit firm says it is initially contracted by Aberdeen City Council to convert 35 vehicles, including waste collection vehicles and road sweepers.

Ulemco, a developer of low carbon fuel applications, working in conjunction with Revolve Technologies, claims to have achieved record energy efficiency from use of 100% industrial grade hydrogen.
