USA / Belgium - Allison Transmission Inc of Indianapolis, Indiana, USA announced at Busworld Europe in Brussels last month its range of propulsion systems has been expanded with the addition of an integrated electric portal axle system suitable for single and double deck city buses. The new development is largely due to the acquisition of AxleTech's EV division in April this year, alongside the acquisition of Vantage Power – a UK start up in electrification, battery systems and telematics.

Also on display were the latest T 3280 xFETM and T 2100 xFETM transmission models. These feature the latest advances in fuelsaving technology. Incorporating optimised gear ratios coupled with the FuelSense Max package, xFE transmissions have been designed to deliver significantly more lock-up operation and operate at lower engine speeds in higher ranges for further fuel economy improvements and lower emissions.
