USA - School bus and truck builder, Navistar Inc of Lisle, Illinois is investing more than USD250m to build a new Class 6-8 truck manufacturing facility in San Antonio, Texas. Navistar states the new manufacturing plant is to complement its existing assembly manufacturing plants in Springfield, Ohio and Escobedo, Mexico; it is expected to bring approximately 600 jobs to the San Antonio area.

Navistar points out the Texas site is located on a critical corridor along Interstate 35, which links the company’s southern United States and Mexico supply bases. Troy Clarke, Navistar chairman, president and CEO, remarked: "This investment will create a benchmark assembly facility to improve quality, lower costs, enhanced profitability from significant logistic improvements, provide capacity to support anticipated industry growth, as well as market share gains."
