USA - Navistar Inc of Lisle, Illinois, has upgraded the International Truck's 2020 on-highway line-up by enhancing fuel efficiency and improving uptime. Navistar announced at the NACV Show 2019 in Atlanta last month the International LT and RH Series on-highway vehicles were to benefit from advances in aerodynamics, powertrain and software systems, increasing fuel efficiency in the 2020 product line-up, which for example, the fuel efficiency improvement for the LT Series it gauged at up to 8.2% compared with a unit built just one year earlier.

Aerodynamics improvements contribute to the significant overall fuel efficiency, these potentially include an enhanced roof fairing; cab extenders to close the tractor-trailer gap; longer chassis skirt strips, and new cab-to-skirt closeouts to further reduce wind drag – see separate article on Flow Below. "Keeping the airflow 'attached' to the vehicle can result in smoother airflow around the vehicle, reducing turbulence that can increase drag and decrease fuel efficiency," said Chet Ciesielski, vice president, On-Highway Business, Navistar. "That's why International has introduced a range of aerodynamic features to help improve customers' profitability."
