VDL to build new electric bus plant on greenfield site in Roeselare

The Netherlands - VDL Bus & Coach NV of Eindhoven, at Busworld Europe in Brussels last month announced plans to build a new factory in Roeselare, Belgium dedicated for producing electric and hybrid electric buses.

Peter Wouters, managing director of VDL Bus Roeselare nv, speaking with Truck & Bus Builder at the show said the majority of VDL’s electric buses would be manufactured in a brand new purpose built CO2-neutral factory with start of production scheduled for late 2021. The factory is to be built on an eight hectare site along the Roeselare ring road. Once certain zoning procedures have been completed it is planning to commence construction in the second quarter (Q2) of 2020.
