Ziehl-Abegg sees huge potential of retrofit bus market for electrification

Germany / Belgium - Electric motor manufacturer, Ziehl-Abegg SE of Kuenzelsau, Germany and  developer of the ZA Wheel - a single speed, in-hub electric drive unit for city buses and heavy commercial vehicles - said it was having major success in the retrofit market in conjunction with conversion specialist, I-See Buses GmbH.

Andreas Pfeffer, managing director of I-See Buses, said: “From the ecological and economic aspects, there is no alternative to retrofitting existing bus fleets.” His consortium of six companies can now convert a diesel bus into an all-electric bus within one working week! A converted MAN bus was used as an on-site demonstrator taking passengers on a test drives around Busworld in Brussels.
