The Netherlands - DAF Trucks NV of Eindhoven has revealed a new version of its CF Electric model in the form of a 6x2 rigid truck (28t gvw) chassis.

The first vehicles are to be field-tested later this year as refuse collection trucks with Dutch public waste disposal firms, HVC, which is active in Noord-Holland, the Rijnmond area and Flevoland, and ROVA in central and eastern regions of the Netherlands. Both firms use side loaders for emptying containers from the side of the truck. Thereafter, early in 2020, DAF Trucks is to supply the city of Rotterdam and Cure, an operator in the Eindhoven region, with a fully electric 6x2 refuse collection truck fitted with a loader crane. All these vehicles are equipped with the VDL E-Power driveline: Like the CF Electric tractor driveline, the CF Electric rigid has the VDL E-power driveline, which provides 210kW of power and torque of 2,000Nm. The driveline is powered by a 170kWh
battery pack suitable for regular refuse collection routes. Refuse collection trucks usually return to the depot every few hours to unload where an electric truck can recharge up to 80% of its battery capacity in just 30 minutes. The fully electric superstructures are supplied by VDL Translift, a division of the VDL Groep since 2014, which specialises in the manufacture of waste collection vehicles at its facility in Dronten.
