Switzerland – Energy management specialist, ABB of Zurich, has opened a battery energy storage manufacturing plant in Baden, Switzerland designed for storing electrical energy for charging  electric trucks, electric buses and trolleybuses as well as electric and hybrid locomotives.

Battery cells are being assembled as battery modules at this new production facility in Baden that are then combined into energy storage systems and configured according to the specific charging needs of the application. ABB says the products utilise the latest lithium-ion technology and are characterised by their high energy and power density as well as their long service life even under high load.
