The Netherlands - Heliox BV of Best, The Netherlands, the principal supplier of electric charging equipment in a truck electrification research project since 2017, has issued a joint statement with its partners saying that the consortium has made huge strides forward in its charging infrastructure and battery charging density.

A new Heliox charging infrastructure has been installed at the distribution centre of supermarket chain giant, Albert Heijn in Zaandam. These chargers are of a new, heavier type 300kW fitted with a Smart Switch and two liquid cooled CCS2 columns per charger. Every charger can charge at 300kW. The Smart Switch allows the charger to switch automatically between charging two vehicles based on which vehicle needs priority in charging. The two cables are surrounded by cooling liquid during charging and when they return to the columns. The cooling liquid temperature is brought down to make constant cooling possible. The advantage, Heliox explains, is that by cooling the cables this helps to speed up the rate of charge from 200 ampere to 400 ampere.
