Russian LCVs slip 1.9% in 2019 v 2018

Russia – LCV sales in Russia decreased by 1.9% to 104,224 units in 2019 from 106,224 vehicles in 2018 with the sales of foreign brands contracting by 6.5% from 36,670 to 34,288 units and the sales of Russia LCVs inching up by 0.5% from 69,554 to 69,936 units, according to statistics collated by Avtostat Info. The top five companies in the segment included all three domestic brands of GAZ, UAZ and Lada, and Volkswagen and Ford.

For Ford the year ended with a gain in sales of 11% thanks to the Transit model. Volkswagen’s sales remained the same with sales of Crafter vans increasing by some 200 units, while sales of the T6 and Caddy models down by a similar number. As a result of stopping production of the Sprinter Classic van range in Nizhny Novgorod, Mercedes-Benz saw sales more than halve. ASM Holding reports the number of Vito and V class model registrations fell by 13.6% and sales of the Citan model ceased.
