RussiaPJSC KamAZ of Naberezhnye Chelny, Russia, has developed a prototype of a cab-less autonomous (self-driving) electric truck, called Kamaz-3373 Chelnok (Shuttle) for operations in closed spaces. The vehicle, which measures 8m long, 2.55m wide and 4m high and offers a payload of up to 10t.

The Chelnok is powered by batteries mounted between the chassis rails and between the front and rear steering axles, which gives the truck a low centre of gravity and optimum manoeuvrability in a limited space. A Dana TM4 electric motor is attached between side members under the body and connected to the front axle by a drive shaft. The axles are made in China by are Hande Axle. The vehicle is also fitted with identical lights in the front and rear, which together with the drivetrain enables it to drive in either direction in equal capacities.
