Western European electric bus deliveries treble in 2019, reports CME Solutions

Western Europe – The number of electric bus deliveries in Western Europe and Poland increased threefold in 2019 to 1,697 units from 548 units delivered in the previous year, according the Wim Chatrou of Chatrou CME Solutions of the Netherlands.

This spike in electric bus registrations follows three years where there was only a marginal rise in deliveries (between 2016 and 2018 – see chart below by powertrain type). There have been a number of reasons for this initial relatively slow start namely lack of infrastructure, lack of volume production capacity and lack of producers ready to deliver an electric bus, but the key reason has been demand.
