BRIST Axle displays steerable independent drive axles for medium-size buses

Italy – BRIST Axle Systems Srl of Montichiari, Italy used Busworld Turkey last month to display its latest independent steerable drive axle for medium-size buses and delivery vehicles.
The BRIST IDS TJ 45-175 steerable drive axle with independent suspension has been specifically developed for small and medium-sized electric logistics truck and bus applications in AWD configuration as well as 4×2. Ms Ani Nergis Çekmer, technical sales support engineer, at the show explained the electrically driven axle has the option to be made steerable, is rated at 4.5 tonnes gross, and is designed for 17.5in wheels. The axle, which is designed to be fitted both front and rear has a patented T-joint with an optimised king pin configuration to make the axle highly compact and lightweight due to reduced volume.
