Turkey – While there have been tenders during the last few years for electric buses in Turkey, which have then later been cancelled due to the recession, the CNG market remains in better shape, according to Cenk Yavuz, territory manager, Turkey for on-highway business of Turkey Engine Power Systems Ltd of Izmir.

In discussion with T&BB at Busworld Turkey last month, Yavuz said there are several cities that have regularly specified CNG for transit and delivery truck operations over the years and consequently have a good fuelling infrastructure; this infrastructure is particularly strong in Ankara, Istanbul, Gaziantep, Kayseri, Erzurum and Mersin. Natural gas is supplied regularly from three countries predominantly, Azerbaijan, Iraq and Russia.
